Blizzard Emergency - Update - March 21
York received 9 - 10 inches of heavy snow on Wednesday. The City of York declared a Blizzard Emergency and set up an emergency shelter. The City Auditorium served as an emergency shelter from the evening of March 19th through the morning of March 21st for people who were without power. The emergency shelter is now closed. Thank you to the Fire, Police, Parks and Recreation staff who set up and monitored the shelter.
The city streets and parking lots are cleared and the sun is helping to remove the snow. City crews removed the snow wind rows Thursday night. Thank you to the Street crews who plowed in tough conditions for many hours with little rest and came back out last night to clear more.
The landfill is still closed to the public due to power outages.
When weather permits the city will announce a location for free limb drop off.
