Summer Games

York Summer Games VII – July 24th - 26th

Are you ready to play?  York Summer Games is scheduled for July 24th - 26th.  The focus of these Games, is to introduce people to various recreational activities and facilities; promote the importance and satisfaction of living a healthy lifestyle; offer friendly competition, and the opportunity to meet new people while having a lot of fun!

This year’s fee for the Summer Games is only $250 per team, so get your teams together now!  Please remember, your S. G. team does not have to enter every event.  You may pick and choose.  But the more events entered, the more points your team accumulates.   In addition, it is permitted, (and good team strategy) to recruit that special someone who does just one event.  We will absolutely not accept any late team registrations past July 1st, and will be ordering team t-shirts on July 6th so player replacements must be the same size as the previous person’s t-shirt.  All team members must have a team t-shirt in order to participate.  For more information, please contact Cheree Folts:  cfolts@cityofyork.net or 363-2630.

Each team will be required to provide a player volunteer to help us run one event.  This enables us to keep the costs down.  We will provide assistance and training to the volunteer.  Please submit the name and phone number of your volunteer when registering your team. The volunteer is not allowed to participate in the event he/she is helping with, and should also be available 30 minutes before and after the event in case the event runs long. Volunteer events will be selected at the mandatory captains meeting on July 8th at 5:30pm at the Community Center.

Tell your players to wear their t-shirts and attend the Opening Ceremonies on Friday evening (6:00 p.m.) at Harrison Park.  Each player attending will be awarded one point for their S.G. Team.  Also, four coupons per player to the Family Aquatic Center will be given to Team Captains to distribute to their players.  These coupons will be valid through July 31.

Included in this registration packet: 1) Schedule of events 2) Directions on registering a team 3) Waiver/Player rosters  5) Participation numbers sheet

  • Establish a team captain
  • Start early in planning.  Schedule a meeting for interested participants to sign-up.
  • Encourage teammates to participate in more than just one event.
  • Utilize your entire team and recruit enough people in an effort to have participants in every event.
  • Don’t have players sign up to participate in events that occur during the same time span.
  • Schedule an organizational meeting a few days before the Games to distribute shirts, schedules and rules.
