Opening Day – Summer Kickoff!

The Family Aquatic Center is open!  Come out and enjoy the summer fun in the pool for free!

Swim Meet Hours

Family Aquatic Center will be closing early on the following dates due to Dolphins Swim Team Meets:  June 24, July 5

Post Season Hours

These dates/hours are subject to change due to staff availability.  The last day of regular hours will be Wednesday, August 2nd.  Then Fair Hours will be in affect August 3-6, 1:00pm – 5:00pm. The pool will then reopen on Saturdays and Sundays (August 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27) from 1:00 – 5:00pm.  Concessions will be available on a limited basis.  FAC will not open in cold weather and is subject to close early. We recommend you call 363-2613 to confirm FAC is open before coming to swim.

 

Last Day of the Season

August 27th open 1:00 – 4:00pm

Soggie Doggie Day follows from 4:30 – 6:00pm

 

Thrifty Thursdays (June 1 – July 27)

Each Thursday the FAC will stay open an extra hour, until 9:00pm with a special half price admission discount from 5:00 – 9:00pm.  Come and enjoy the pool on these special nights.

 

Floaty Fridays (June 2 – August 4)

Each Friday at the FAC, patrons will be able to use floaties.  The FAC will supply a limited amount of inner-tubes, so feel free to bring your own!  In cases where the pool is heavily populated, floaties may have to be removed from the water for safety reasons.

 

Adult Lap Swim (May 29 – August 4)

FAC is open for adult lap swim during weekdays.  Swim over your lunch hour for a quick workout.

Water Walking

Water Walking is the latest exercise craze of the summer!   The pool water will provide the resistance for a great workout!

FAC at the FAC

Sign up for the Fitness Aquatic Challenge at the Family Aquatic Center this summer for a little motivation while you work out during the summer months.  This challenge will involve lap swimming and water walking with a few other water exercises thrown in. Sign up at the FAC Admissions desk. Finishers will receive a t-shirt.

 

Toddler Time

Toddlers must bring a parent or guardian for this time when the FAC is reserved just for them!  The zero depth area ONLY will be open for toddlers to have play time.  Parents/guardians must be within an arm’s reach at all times.  Toddlers must be 5 or younger.  Swim diapers required if necessary.

Float for Life

This is a class designed for young kids to learn how to survival float if they were to ever fall into water and no one else is around. Our trained staff wants every child to know how to self-rescue if the situation ever came to it. This class is FREE to whoever wants to participate! 

When:  Session I:  June 12- 23, Session II:  June 26- July 7, Session III: July 10 - 21 (Monday-Friday, no Wednesdays)

Time: 12:15-12:30pm, 2:50-3:00pm & 5:50-6:00pm

Who:  Infants, Toddlers, Kids – anyone that wants to learn

Where:  Family Aquatic Center

Fee: FREE

Midnight Swim

Come to the Family Aquatic Center for a midnight swim!  Swim under the stars, play water games in the dark, and enjoy the perfect summer night.

Swimming Lessons Levels

Beginner–

Participants will learn water safety and basic swimming fundamentals.  Upon completion, participants will be able to blow bubbles, bob, front and back float with assistance and enter and exit the water. 

Primary-

Participants will continue to learn and begin to practice water safety while building on previous skills learned.  Upon completion, participants will be able to submerge whole body, front and back glide with assistance and have knowledge of the kicks and arm motions. 

Secondary-

Participants will practice water safety while continuing to improve skills learned in the Primary.  Upon completion, participants will be able to front and back crawl, jump into chest deep water and front and back glide, and begin to learn the elementary backstroke and back crawl. 

Advanced-

Participants will be taking their skills to deeper water and practicing water safety at a higher level.  Upon completion, participants will be able to tread water for 30 seconds, jump into deeper water, front crawl with head in the water and dive.  Participants will also master elementary backstroke and back crawl, and begin to learn breaststroke.  Advanced participants will be able to go off the diving board. 

Professional-

Participants will be fine tuning the skills that they have learned from the previous levels.  Participants are good swimmers and fill confident around water.  Upon completion, participants will be able dive for objects in the deep end, change direction while swimming the front/back stroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke.  They will learn the butterfly.  They will be able to tread water for an extended period of time.  

 

 

Water Babies

This program is for children 6 months to 4 years of age and their parents.  It will build swimming readiness by emphasizing fun and safety in the water.  Swim diapers must be used unless potty trained.  Two class times are available; please indicate which class you’d prefer on registration form.

Time: 6:00 – 6:30pm & 6:30-7:00pm

Ages:  6 months – 4 years

Inner Tube Water Polo Thursdays

The York Family Aquatic Center will have Water Polo Thursdays from June 1st to July 27th for anyone interested.  Get your teams together and head to the FAC from 6:00-9:00pm.

Water Aerobics

Move your summer workout to the swimming pool.  Water Aerobics is a great way to tone up your body, develop muscles and improve your health!  Classes will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:15p.m. at the Family Aquatic Center.  $3.00/class or $25.00/10 classes.  Classes will start June 1.

Aqua Zumba

Known as the Zumba® “pool party,” the Aqua Zumba program gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, and even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.  Class time is Thursdays 5:30-6:15pm. $3.00/class or $25.00/10 classes. Classes start May 31.

Father’s Day Special

What a great way to spend time with Daddy.  Dad will get in FREE.  Special concession meal deals are available.

FAC Family Fun Night

This night will be full of activities, relays, contests, and games.  Make sure you bring your entire family!

Beach Party

The York Community Center and Kilgore Memorial Library are teaming up to bring you a day in the sun!  We will be playing water limbo, having a water balloon fight, running through sprinklers and more with the entire family.  Bring your own towels, fun to be had by all!

Dive in Movie

Parks and Recreation will be showing the movie The Little Mermaid on a projector screen at the Family Aquatics Center. Sit pool-side as you watch a classic movie and enjoy popcorn on us! It starts right when open swim closes at 9.

Soggy Doggy Day

Let your dog have a chance to enjoy the FAC like you did all summer!  This day will be reserved just for your four-legged friends.  Your dog will enjoy the swim before the pool is drained for the summer.

Open to all dogs that can swim and are compatible with other dogs.  Dogs must be leashed when not in the water.  All dogs must have current vaccinations.  Warning:  FAC has slotted gutter grates that may be hazardous to dog’s feet when exiting pool.  Dogs should exit from the zero depth area.  People are not allowed to swim; they can be in the water only to attend to their dog.

 

Sunday August 27th    

Time: 4:30 – 6:00 pm
