The York County Crime Stoppers program started in March of 1984. Since that time York County Crime Stoppers has paid out over $16,000 in rewards and has been instrumental in solving 333 crimes. In addition, information received by Crime Stoppers has lead to the arrest of 199 individuals and the successful prosecution of each of these suspects.

York County Crime Stoppers is proud of the fact that it has played an important role in the recovery of $94,000 in stolen property, and illegal drugs with a street value of over $7,000.

York County Crime Stoppers added an Alcohol Party Hotline in 1994. Information received has led to the arrests of 50 juveniles and 27 adults for a variety of offenses, including minor in possession of alcohol and procuring alcohol for minors.

Crime of the Week

October 28, 2016 - The York Police Department is investigating two separate burglaries which occurred during the first week of October 2016.  

The first burglary occurred at a residence in the 400 block of N. York Avenue.  An older style Xbox gaming system, various collectible swords, pocket knives, and flash drives were taken from the residence.

The second burglary occurred at Klute Trucking, 2615 S. Lincoln Ave.  Forcible entry was made into the business during overnight hours.  Taken from the business was a new in box welder, a cash box containing cash, a tool box and various hand tools.

October 13, 2016On Tuesday October 11, 2016 at approximately 12:15 p.m., a male subject called the York County Sheriff’s Department 911 communications center and reported that a bomb had been placed inside the York County courthouse. The courthouse was evacuated and searched by law enforcement officers. The case remains under investigation and your assistance is requested.

August 18, 2016 - The York County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary and theft from a farm quonset located near York. An unknown suspect cut and removed a pad lock and entered the farm quonset and removed tools from a parked combine.

August 9, 2016 - The York Police Department is investigating a residential burglary occurring on Saturday July 30, 2016 in the 400 block of E. 6th Street in York. Various electronics, gaming systems, a power drill, and cash were taken.

August 1, 2016 - The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating vandalism to an irrigation pump and control box occurring between July 23 and 27, 2016. The damage happened on property located one quarter mile north of Road C and Road 11.  The suspect shot the irrigation pump and control box with a firearm causing significant damage.

April 25, 2016 - The York Police Department is investigating two residential burglaries occurring in the 600 block of E. 10th Street.  One burglary occurred between April 12 and 16, 2016 and the victim reported a PlayStation 3 and related accessories stolen.  The second burglary occurred on April 15, 2016 and the victim reported numerous pieces of jewelry missing.

March 9, 2016 - The York Police Department is investigating vandalism occurring to a passenger car while parked at Sunset Bowl during the overnight hours of Friday March 4, 2016 into Saturday March 5, 2016.  Damage appears to have been caused by an unknown number of individuals and possibly another vehicle.  If you have information about this crime, please contact Crime Stoppers at 402-362-2999 and reference case number 16-148.  Your tip may be eligible for a cash reward.

December 15, 2015 - The York Police Department is investigating the theft of a Snapper (Model#: SP70) push lawn mower.  The mower was stolen from a residence in the 2000 block of N. Nebraska Ave. on December 11, 2015.

November 21, 2015 - The Dollar General at 928 N. Lincoln Ave. reported a shoplifting occurring on Sunday November 8, 2015 around 7:00 p.m.  The suspect pictured below entered the store and concealed two DVD players under his clothing and left the store without paying for the items.  If you know the identity of the male, please contact Crime Stoppers at 402-362-2999.  Your tip may be eligible for a cash reward.

November 15, 2015 - The York Police Department is investigating the theft of 4 wheeled dune buggy vehicle.  The vehicle was stolen from the 3600 block of N. Division Ave. between November 1 and 7, 2015.  The vehicle is brown in color and pictured below.
